As a result of the strategy work which involved a broad range of the company’s customers and stakeholders, a new Vision 2035 and a strategy extending to 2023 have been completed for Gasgrid Finland, which is responsible for the Finnish gas transmission network and system. Based on the four scenarios published earlier, the strategy is to ensure long-term success in the energy revolution and the vision to provide a platform for a carbon-neutral society.
Gasgrid Finland’s Vision 2035 and strategy were published today, 15 October 2020, in the Gasgrid webinar The Future of Gases, Part II: The Beginning of the Journey.
The company’s vision is crystallised as follows: Gases enable a carbon-neutral society – we provide a platform for it.
The share of zero-emission electricity in Finland in the future will be much higher than currently. The integration of gas, heating and refrigeration systems brings the necessary flexibility and possibilities to energy storage. The diversity of gases increases and new applications emerge. The gas market and Gasgrid Finland’s transmission network and services form a diverse energy platform that supports the use of various gases, security of supply, gas transmission and the flexibility of the energy system through sectoral integration.
The company’s strategy for 2020–2023 has four focus areas:
- Transmission platform of the future: Development of success factors for the implementation of hydrogen as well as a clean-gas market and sectoral integration.
- Customer-oriented gas market: Gasgrid Finland is the leading company in the Baltic Sea region in promoting a competitive and customer-oriented gas market and ensuring reliable, safe and cost-efficient gas transmission.
- Responsible agent of change: Building impact, awareness and partner networks and integrating responsibility into the daily life of the organisation to bring about extensive change.
- Developing operating model: Building a strong foundation for a prosperous, adaptable and developing organisation and operating model to implement the vision.
“We strongly believe that the gas industry has the potential to develop and we want to be actively promoting a hydrogen and clean-gas market as well as sectoral integration. Together with our customers and stakeholders, we strive for concrete solutions that will lead us towards an accelerating energy revolution and a flexible integrated energy and raw material system,” describes Olli Sipilä, CEO of Gasgrid Finland.
Gasgrid Finland’s mission is to offer its customers safe, reliable and cost-efficient transmission of gases. The company actively promotes a carbon-neutral energy and raw material system of the future by developing its transmission platform, services and the gas market in a customer-oriented manner. This is done without compromising the basic functions of the company.
The energy revolution is a global challenge that Gasgrid Finland responds to in particular through close cooperation in the Baltic Sea region. Pioneering in the development of a flexible energy platform also enables Finland to increase its energy self-sufficiency. In addition, clean gases create new jobs and export possibilities.
