Capacity in Balticconnector for the period of 29.03.2021 – 04.04.2021 is published

Balticconnector capacity for the period of 29.03.2021 – 31.03.2021 will be 29 500 008 kWh/day and for the period 01.04.2021 – 04.04.2021 33 000 000 kWh/day.

Elering, Gasgrid Finland and Conexus have in cooperation analyzed the possible ways to increase the capacity on Balticconnector. The non-conventional transit regime from Incukalns to Karksi point could possibly enable 2-3 GWh of daily capacity increase in capacity during the delay period of the compressor station commissioning on Balticconnector dependent on the consumption of TSOs local grid. In order to maximize the potential of this regime there are following pre-requisites towards usage of regional gas infrastructure:

  1. Estonian local gas consumption shall be ensured from Varska entry at the highest possible extent (via proper nominations by network users);
  2. Gas entry to EE-LV Common market area shall be ensured through Incukalns UGS at the highest possible extent (via proper nominations by network users);
  3. Gas entry to EE-LV Common market area shall be ensured through Luhamaa at the lowest possible extent (via proper nominations by network users).

To ensure that the extended Balticconnector technical capacity could be considered firm and supported by the system and nomination schemas, Baltic-Finnish TSOs will increase the flows from Incukalns UGS to Finland and review the Balticconnector technical capacity on weekly basis.
