Safety and security
Safe operation is the main operating principle of Floating LNG Terminal Finland Oy. Continuous improvement of safety and operational quality enable us to achieve our goals according to our strategy.
We work every day to ensure that no one suffers personal injury from the activities of the company and its partners or subcontractors. We take care of the safety of all workers by conducting workplace surveys and hazard and risk assessments. We monitor the safety level constantly, train, observe deviations, and deal with safety-related issues in various forums with the personnel.
Our safety and security principles are as follows:
- We maintain and develop our safety and security culture systematically.
- Everyone is permitted and obliged to address unsafe activities and take care of people’s wellbeing.
- We train and follow the specified safety instructions and safe working methods
- We record and investigate all safety and security related events.
- We take safe access and mobility into account in our operations.
- We require a similar safety culture from our partners.
Security in the supply chain
We act responsibly and require that our service providers and critical suppliers as well as partners in various projects follow the safety and operating principles set by the company.
We also require that the subcontractors of our direct contractual partners comply with a corresponding level of safety and security. If deviations occur in the operation, they must be reported to us immediately. Every accident, environmental disturbance, property damage or threat thereof is investigated collaboratively to determine corrective measures. We train every person working in the company in occupational safety and the way of working. We require partners to complete a security online course in advance.
To guarantee safety, working in the FSRU and the Terminal area requires a permit, and our company instructs everyone operating and visiting the area on safe operation. We follow the development work related to FSRU Terminal operations in Finland and abroad and take the best practices from them into our operations.
Sustainability and environmental protection
Terminal uses natural gas as the main fuel, cleanest off all fossil-based fuels, meeting the limitation values set forth in Class III (Tier III) of annex VI of the MARPOL Convention. LNG carriers arriving to the Terminal as well as any other boats, including tugboats, must use fuel with up to 0.1% sulphur.
Measurements of the LNG terminal’s noise effects are still ongoing.
