On 11 December 2024, Gasgrid and the EU’s future hydrogen transmission network operators took a significant step forward in forming a European hydrogen transmission system cooperation. The national transmission network operators have jointly agreed on the establishment of a temporary structure. Pre-ENNOH, based on voluntary cooperation and have elected a board that will guide the operation during 2025. ENNOH (European Network of Network Operators for Hydrogen) is a statutory organisation that also acts as an advisor to the European Commission.
ENNOH’s main mission is to promote the development and operation of the internal market for hydrogen and cross-border trade. ENNOH aims to ensure optimal management, coordinated operation and rational technical development of the future European hydrogen transmission system.
Sara Kärki, Chief Operating Officer of Gasgrid’s hydrogen business, was elected as one of the Vice Presidents of the Pre-ENNOH board. This appointment is valuable to Gasgrid as it offers the opportunity to promote common rules for the tranmission of hydrogen and to speed up the development of a common European hydrogen market.
