Gasgrid Finland and Elering AS organize a webinar regarding the status update on the LNG floating terminal and the assessment of the Balticconnector capacity allocation mechanisms on 25th of July at 10:00-12:00 EEST

The Transmission System Operators of Gasgrid Finland and Elering AS (the TSOs) invite you to participate in a webinar taking place on Monday 25th of July at 10:00-12:00 EEST. In the webinar, a status update concerning the LNG floating terminal and the assessment of the Balticconnector (BC) capacity allocation mechanisms will be given.

The gas market environment has changed significantly in the Finnish-Baltic region. There are no flows from 3rd country entry points and regional gas demand is mainly covered by LNG imports. The Finnish-Estonian LNG floating terminal project has proceeded as planned. Due to the significant changes in the regional market, the TSOs have assessed two alternative Balticconnector capacity allocation mechanisms – the Implicit Capacity Allocation Model and the Auction Mechanism. The TSOs will present the results of the assessment and invite market participants to provide opinions on their preferred capacity allocation mechanism after the webinar.

Agenda

  • Opening words
  • A status update on the LNG floating terminal project and the high-level principles related to the transmission network
  • The assessment of the TSOs on the BC capacity allocation mechanisms
    • Pros and cons of the BC capacity allocation alternatives: the Implicit Capacity Allocation Model and the Auction Mechanism
  • Next steps
  • Closing words
