Helsinki, 5 December 2024 –The Ministerial Committee on Economic Policy has outlined the goverments views on advancing Finland’s hydrogen economy. These decisions, in alignment with the Government’s industrial policy strategy, establish a clear roadmap to foster clean transition investments in Finland. It confirms the mandate given in June 2022 by the Finnish government to Gasgrid to promote and advance hydrogen economy in Finland and in the Baltic Sea region.
“The Government policy supports Gasgrid’s strategy to advance the hydrogen economy investments in Finland. Our goal is to maximize national economic benefits from hydrogen economy. We strive for high added-value investments and exports, growth of technology and service sector, and the development of EU hydrogen markets to accelerate Finland’s hydrogen economy investments”,
Throughout 2024, Gasgrid has engaged in intensive stakeholder dialogue with companies and regions to assess the demand and supply of hydrogen in Finland. In 2025, Gasgrid will commence the environmental impact assessment of the national hydrogen transmission infrastructure and further develop regional hydrogen valleys. Simultaneously, Gasgrid will continue international cooperation in the Baltic Sea region through three on-going EU projects.
