Guarantees of Origin Reported to the Finnish Energy Authority

A report has been submitted to the Energy Authority for the period from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, detailing the guarantees of origin for gas and hydrogen. The Energy Authority has compiled a summary of the events recorded in three different guarantees of origin registries, based on the information provided by the registry administrators. The summary is available in Finnish here and in Swedish here. In 2024, the issuance of guarantees of origin for renewable gas increased steadily, reaching approximately 340 gigawatt-hours (GWh). The cancellation volumes exceeded the amount of guarantees of origin for renewable gas issued in Finland. The cancellation volume nearly doubled, amounting to 570 GWh in 2024. The high number of cancellations is reflected in the import volume, with nearly 450 GWh of guarantees of origin for renewable gas imported into Finland. There were no transactions in the hydrogen guarantees of origin registry.
