Satu Mattila appointed CEO of Gasgrid Floating LNG Terminal Finland

MSc (economics) Satu Mattila (45) has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gasgrid Floating LNG Terminal Finland Oy from 9 January 2023. Gasgrid Floating LNG Terminal Finland is a subsidiary of Gasgrid Finland that will operate the business of the floating LNG terminal arriving in Inkoo, Finland, in December 2022. She has more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector’s shipping logistics and has been involved from early on in bringing high-quality renewable fuel to the market.

Implemented under the leadership of Gasgrid, the floating LNG terminal project will ensure access to gas in Finland long into the future. Important for security of supply, this project will replace gas previously sourced for Finland from Russia. The floating LNG terminal will also enable gas deliveries to the Baltic States and even Poland.

“It’s great to be involved in a new solution to secure Finland’s access to energy in a changing global situation. At the same time, I’ll get to further expand my own knowledge of the energy sector and I believe my background in shipping logistics and LNG provides me with a solid foundation for my future role. I look forward to the new challenges and cooperation with new colleagues, customers, and partners,” says Satu Mattila, future CEO of Gasgrid Floating LNG Terminal Finland. “I have always sought to create long-term partnerships and transparent business.”

Mattila has served in many high-responsibility roles at North European Oil Trade Oy in the past ten years. She has been involved in the design and construction of the logistics chain for oil- and bio products in a rapidly changing operating environment and led the way in sustainable and safe logistics for LNG-fuelled ships in the Baltic Sea region.

“Progress is made at record speed in the Inkoo floating LNG terminal project towards the commissioning taking place in December. This will be followed by establishing and further developing the activities of the terminal company together with the personnel as well as customers and stakeholders in the Finnish-Baltic region. Satu is an excellent person to steer the terminal company forward in this important role to ensure energy security in the Baltic Sea region. Her experience, competence and value base will also help Gasgrid Finland as a whole to turn its solution-oriented vision into reality. I would like to wish Satu a very warm welcome on behalf of our entire team,” says Gasgrid Finland CEO Olli Sipilä.
