Gasgrid joins the Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative

Gasgrid has joined the UN Global Compact corporate sustainability initiative. This initiative means we are part of a voluntary leadership forum that aims to further develop sustainable business in line with the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The UN Global Compact is the UN’s voluntary initiative and the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, which provides companies with an internationally recognised sustainability framework. Companies that have signed the initiative commit to operating in alignment with ten principles related to human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption. Companies participating in the initiative have an annual reporting obligation to the UN on compliance with the principles of sustainability. More than 20,000 companies in more than 160 countries have already signed the initiative. “As an operator promoting a cross-border, clean energy economy and a carbon-neutral society, joining an internationally recognised sustainability concept is important to us. This initiative will allow us to strengthen our already established work to promote and develop responsibility in our business operations and contribute to solving global sustainability challenges,” says Gasgrid CEO Olli Sipilä.

Gasgrid aims to be a transparent and reliable social actor that actively promotes responsibility issues. Being part of the UN Global Compact will give us more tools, expertise and new networks for our sustainability work. Gasgrid will take the initiative’s Ten Principles into account when updating our responsibility programme and policies already this year. You can follow the progress of our sustainability work within the framework of the initiative on our participant profile page on the UN Global Compact website.
