Memberships in European networks

Gasgrid is a member of the ENTSOG consortium

Gasgrid is a member of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG). The association was officially established on December 1, 2009, under the EU’s Third Energy Package.

Based in Brussels, ENTSOG brings together 43 transmission system operators from across the EU with the aim of coordinating and improving the functioning of the internal gas market. Its key tasks include developing and harmonizing network codes governing the functioning of the gas market and system, drawing up a ten-year network development plan (TYNDP) for the EU, and providing transparent information on gas flows, capacity, and supply and demand forecasts.

ENTSOG plays a key role in the European energy transition by supporting the integration of renewable and low-carbon gases, such as biomethane, into existing infrastructure. It also focuses on improving system resilience and planning investments in line with the EU’s climate and energy targets. By providing transparent data, infrastructure maps, and technical expertise, ENTSOG helps decision-makers and stakeholders make informed decisions that strengthen energy security, enhance market integration, and ensure a reliable gas network for the future.

Gasgrid’s membership in ENNOH

Gasgrid is also a member of ENNOH (European Network Operators for Hydrogen). ENNOH is an EU-level association that is currently in its founding phase. It brings together hydrogen transmission network operators (HTNOs) across the EU. Officially launched in 2024 with the adoption of the EU’s hydrogen and gas market decarbonization package, ENNOH aims to promote cross-border cooperation, develop uniform technical standards (network codes), and oversee the coordinated planning and operation of hydrogen infrastructure. It is expected to officially start operations in 2026.

From 2027 onwards, ENNOH will take responsibility for the planning of the European hydrogen network, including the publication of a ten-year network development plan (TYNDP) and the creation of harmonized network rules for hydrogen transmission. Working closely with other ENTSOG and ENTSO-E (European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity) members, ENNOH will help ensure that hydrogen plays its part in Europe’s green energy transition, supporting climate goals and strengthening energy security.
