Our operations

Finland has two energy transmission grids, one for electricity and one for gas. At Gasgrid, we are responsible for Finland’s gas transmission network and gas transmission in Finland. At the same time, we are developing the future national hydrogen network and our current transmission network to support the introduction of low-carbon and renewable gases such as hydrogen and synthetic methane. Our mission is to provide Finnish industry and businesses with safe, reliable, and cost-effective gas transmission. Our business consists of gas operations, LNG terminal operations, hydrogen development and project implementation.

We are a key part of Finland’s energy system and our operations support Finland’s economic growth, security of supply, and energy independence. The gas system supports the regulating power of Finland’s emission-free electricity production; gas can be used to balance consumption peaks, for example, on windless and cloudless days.

We support society’s carbon neutrality goals

We are developing our company in a customer-oriented manner to promote a carbon-neutral future. Our network currently transports natural gas, domestic biogas, and liquefied natural gas (LNG), but in the future, our network will increasingly transport renewable gases.

In addition to the existing transmission network in Southern Finland, we are currently developing a national, cross-border hydrogen transmission network with the decision from the Finnish government. Our goal is to connect a large part of our country’s industrial customers to the network in the early 2030s. Through our international infrastructure projects, we are also preparing for the demand for low-carbon gas energy in Europe.

There are already more than 130 of us at Gasgrid, and our employees are united by strong expertise, shared values, and pride for meaningful work. Our offices are located in Espoo, Kouvola, Imatra, Mäntsälä, and Inkoo.
