Advancing the energy transition is at the core of our strategy. We are developing a reliable and low‑carbon multi‑gas platform that supports carbon neutrality goals, provides predictability for our customers, and strengthens security of supply for society.
Our strategy for 2024–2026 supports Finland’s transition toward a society based on renewable and low‑carbon energy. The growth of renewable energy production and investments — such as wind and solar power and hydrogen projects — is transforming the energy value chain and creating new opportunities for society as a whole.
At the heart of our strategy is the development of infrastructure that enables the integration of renewable and low‑carbon gases, such as biogas and hydrogen, into the energy system. This infrastructure not only meets current energy needs but also lays the foundation for a flexible, renewable, and low‑carbon energy system for the future.
The operating environment strongly influences our activities and strategic choices. Climate change and EU and national climate targets are accelerating the development of renewable and low-carbon energy solutions. Gasgrid’s role is emphasized in reducing emissions and market-based gas growth.
Urbanization increases energy demand, especially in growing urban areas and industrial areas. At the same time, population growth is increasing energy consumption and highlighting the need for sustainable solutions. Geopolitical tensions and regional crises are increasing uncertainty in the energy markets, making energy security, security of supply, and resilience even more important.
Digitalization and artificial intelligence enable smart energy management and consumption as well as optimization of production. New technologies support the flexibility and efficiency of the energy system. Electricity and energy consumption is growing rapidly with digitalization, artificial intelligence, and data centers. This highlights the importance of renewable and low-carbon energy solutions and energy efficiency. We must ensure that our energy system is flexible and secure in supply so that we can respond to the growing demand in a responsible and sustainable manner.
