Transparency and market information

Gasgrid Finland publishes transparency and market information that is relevant for market participants and supports the efficient and transparent functioning of the gas market. Transparency is an essential part of our operations, and Gasgrid Finland complies with the requirements set out in the Gas Regulation (EU) 2024/1789.

Gasgrid publishes the information required by current and future network users to ensure effective and non-discriminatory access to the Finnish gas system. This includes the definition of all relevant entry and exit points and the information to be published at those points on the ENTSOG Transparency Platform.

The Transparency Platform provides a wide range of gas market data, including information on transmitted gas volumes, gas quality, aggregated transmission capacity bookings by market participants, as well as transmission requests, i.e. nominations. In addition to publications by Gasgrid Finland, the platform also includes disclosures from other EU transmission system operators, enabling a broad and harmonised view of the European gas market.

The underutilisation fee applies on Gas Days when congestion has occurred and Shippers’ nominations or renominations have been reduced on a pro rata basis.

In addition to the technical capacity allocated for bilateral trading, the TSO offers virtual capacity at the Balticconnector based on the total confirmed nominations in the opposite direction.

Disclosure of inside information and market-relevant information

Gasgrid Finland publicly discloses inside information in an effective, timely and non-discriminatory manner via the ENTSOG Transparency UMM (Urgent Market Message) platform.

Gasgrid publishes primarily through the UMM platform, among others, the following information:

  • changes in technical capacities at entry and/or exit points
  • planned or unplanned maintenance works impacting technical capacities
  • expansion or dismantling of infrastructure affecting technical capacity offered to the market
  • milestones of infrastructure projects in Finland that have an impact on capacities
  • information with a significant impact on market participants (e.g. shares of capacity allocated for bilateral trading and gas exchange(s), tolerance, virtual capacity, or technical failures in Gasgrid’s systems)

Maintenance information

The transmission system operators (TSOs) of the Finnish–Baltic region publish annually, by the end of June, the planned maintenance works that may affect the capacities offered to market participants. A jointly coordinated and agreed maintenance plan increases efficiency and enables TSOs to maximise the technical capacity made available to the market.

Gasgrid Finland’s objective is that maintenance works have as little impact on market participants as possible. Once TSO coordination has been completed and the final maintenance plans have been confirmed, the information is published to the market.

We provide our customers with transparent access to information through several platforms. We publish key gas market information on the ENTSOG Transparency Platform. In addition, we make information available to our customers via the Gasgrid Portal and the Datahub. Through the Gasgrid Portal, customers operating in the wholesale gas market can access data essential to their operations, including information on offered capacities, nominations, as well as balance management and settlement. Through the Datahub, customers active in the retail gas market can access key operational information such as measurement and calorific value data, delivery relationship information, and their metering point details.
