Balancing system services

To maintain physical balance in the gas system, we trade on the gas exchange, if necessary, as well as bilaterally through balancing service agreements with shippers. Balancing service agreements are subjected to competitive bidding. Up-to-date information on competitive bidding and the terms and conditions for balancing service agreements are available on this page under Documents. You can find more information on balancing in the Gas Transmission Rules and in the Terms and Conditions of Balancing approved by the Energy Authority. These are found from the Finnish Lait, säännöt ja suositukset page.

We are responsible for selling and buying imbalance gas in order to balance the imbalances of balance responsible parties on a particular gas day. We publish imbalance gas price data in the Gasgrid Portal and on the Transparency and market information page.

The transmission system operator shall not gain or lose by the payment and receipt of daily imbalance charges, within-day charges, balancing actions charges and other charges related to its balancing activities. Costs and revenues related to balancing are transferred to the balance responsible parties, i.e. neutralised, through neutrality charges determined each month. You can find information on neutrality charges for balancing from our service and price list. You can find more information on neutrality charges for balancing in the Terms and Conditions of Balancing approved by the Energy Authority.
