Safety

We work uncompromisingly to ensure safe and reliable gas transmission. Our goal is zero lost-time injuries or deviations and 100% reliable gas transmission.

Our safety principles

Our operations are based on a strong safety culture in which reliable gas transmission plays a key role. The objective of our safety work is that no damage, accidents or injuries take place in our operations, our subcontractors’ activities or in the end use of gas. Our safety goal is zero lost-time injuries or deviations. Our safety culture relies on the following principles:

  • We maintain and develop our safety culture systematically.
  • Everyone is permitted and obliged to address unsafe activities and take care of safety.
  • We provide training in, follow and monitor the defined safety and security guidelines and safe work methods.
  • We record and investigate all incidents relating to safety and security.
  • We take safe access and mobility into account in our operations.
  • We expect our partners to have a safety culture that matches our own.

The core of our safety culture is proactive safety work, identifying risks and continuous development. We pay special attention to risks related to health and safety at work. Identifying safety and environmental risks and opportunities is part of our regular activities.

Various risk assessments take place in the context of projects, depending on the scope of the project. We also conduct instant risk assessments before starting work as part of our daily routine. All these assessments help to ensure reliable identification of hazards and risks and the application of corrective measures concerning any risks.

Safety measurments and observations

We actively monitor our safety goals and operate in accordance with our certified ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system. We utilise the number of accidents, hazardous and near-miss situations, safety observations and inspections, and the time spent carrying out internal investigations as our safety goals’ metrics. We encourage our personnel and our suppliers to report safety risks and deviations, but also to make positive safety observations. Our personnel and suppliers receive regular in-person and online safety training. In addition, we prepare through various crisis and preparedness exercises.

To ensure safety, land use and construction in the vicinity of natural gas pipelines is restricted. Please familiarise yourself with the operating instructions and procedures if you are planning to work in the vicinity of a gas pipeline.
