Hydrogen development

We promote the development of the national hydrogen network and infrastructure cooperation in Finland and across Europe to safeguard Finland’s security of supply and energy independence.

National hydrogen transmission network

Our national hydrogen network will extend from Tornio to Southern Finland. The network strengthens Finland’s energy self‑sufficiency and security of supply by reducing the need for imported energy and increasing resilience to geopolitical risks.

Hydrogen information package

We published the first hydrogen information package in 2025. The package provides an up‑to‑date overview of the development of Finland’s hydrogen network, grid connections, and the market model for hydrogen pipeline transmission.

The information package supports market participants and promotes open dialogue as the hydrogen market evolves, and it is updated regularly in line with market and regulatory developments. In parallel, we are currently exploring, among other things, hydrogen storage solutions and the durability of hydrogen pipelines in cooperation with various stakeholders.
