Building trust

We operate responsibly and reliably and promote open dialogue with our stakeholders. We uphold a fair operating culture in our value chain.

We bear societal responsibility with regard to security of supply and energy independence and for this reason alone, it is important for us to act transparently and ethically in society.

We are responsible for Finland’s gas infrastructure and, for example, building the hydrogen infrastructure is a major societal undertaking that affects many different target groups. This is why active and open dialogue with our various stakeholders, such as landowners, local residents and market participants, is important to us. We develop our activities through open dialogue and encourage our partners to contact us freely. To ensure active stakeholder dialogue, we organise dozens of stakeholder events around Finland every year and participate in energy sector events. We collect feedback using different means, such as surveys, consultation, the customer system, meetings and resident evenings. We have an anonymous whistleblowing channel for reporting misconduct.

We want to be a reliable and fair partner to all our stakeholders. Responsible operations are part of our values, and to achieve them, our employees annually complete online courses on topics such as safety and the Code of Conduct.

Our operations are steered by the Corporate Governance Policy and Code of Conduct, and by the certified management system (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ETJ+, ISO 45001) which covers Gasgrid Finland’s operations. The Corporate Governance Policy defines the responsibilities and authorisations of different functions. The Code of Conduct outlines the rights and obligations that guide the personnel. In addition, risk management is governed by the risk management policy and information security policy.

We also demand responsible practices from our service and material suppliers and our other contractual partners. Guidance on these matters is recorded in the Supplier Code of Conduct. The code requires suppliers to commit to respecting human rights, environmental responsibility, the reduction of methane and carbon dioxide emissions, anti-corruption and safety practices, among other things. We regularly carry out supplier assessments. We have prepared for executing major projects by designating a target state for group procurement and the supply chain’s sustainability, as well as an operating model. We have also created a supplier classification model.
